End of An Era?
Or Not?
Demise
of CD Ram Band Equipment Bus Termed "Greatly
Exaggerated"

(Harrisburg, PA)
According to reliable sources inside the Pentagon,
reports from last spring that the Central Dauphin
Ram Band Equipment Bus had made its last trip may
have been exaggerated. The bus was originally
built in 1907 by F.O. Stanley, better known for
having invented the "Stanley Steamer."
After serving in the two World
Wars and in Korea, the
bus was purchased and renovated according to
exacting Central Dauphin band chaperone
specifications in 1956. Among the many
innovations of the CD Ram Band Equipment bus is its
quick release hydraulic lift gate, which provides
almost instant access to band instruments. The
quick release hydraulic lift gate technology has
been incorporated into numerous military and
civilian applications, the most recent of which is
the control of the animatronic cows at the newly
renovated Hershey's Chocolate World exhibit.
The unnamed Pentagon sources
report that the Central Dauphin Transportation
Department has performed precision upgrades on the
Ram Band Equipment Bus and that the bus is "good to
go." Keep a sharp eye out this fall to see if these
reports are accurate. |

Cast members of the
television series "The Partridge Family," which broadcast on ABC from
1970 to 1974, appear on the famous tour bus in which they traveled the
country. Few realize that the bus was actually borrowed from the
Central Dauphin Ram Band; in fact, series taping was scheduled so as not
to conflict with the fall marching band schedule. |
