Herco Volunteering information

HERSHEY'S KISSES Character and friendsLooking for a quick way to add funds to that Student Ledger?  Well, here's a great one:  the RamBand has enrolled with the HERSHEY Entertainment Complex Volunteer Program.  This is a great fundraising opportunity to earn money, have fun doing it, and it is easy. How easy? If you work for one eight hour shift you can make $32.76 for your account!  Plus, you'll receive one volunteer voucher* for each shift completed.  So, if you want to be part of HersheyPark's fun (while earning a Hershey voucher and making $5.85 per hour, 70% of which goes into your Student Ledger!) then give it a try.

We're assigned to work the HERCO Food & Beverage (F & B) area, which means that we'll assist catering staff with special group meals; assist in restaurants with prep work, basic cooking, serving customers, and maintaining general cleanliness.  Be prepared to stand for most of your shift.  Some volunteers may be asked to handle money. All assignments require standing for a minimum of five hours.  Note:  Hershey requires all volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

HERCO VOLUNTEERING: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Volunteer Dress Code is as follows:
Reporting for your shift:

All volunteers are required to report to the Coaster Café for their shifts at HERSHEYPARK, HERSHEYPARK Arena or HERSHEYPARK Stadium. If the shift is at the GIANT Center, please report to the Usher room using Entrance 6 on the lower level of GIANT Center.  We ask that all volunteers arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their shift.

Signing In:

All volunteers are required to sign in upon arrival for their shift. Please see the F&B Personnel staff member to obtain your sheet. To help speed along the process of signing in, we prefer that only one member from each group come up to obtain the attendance sheet. Please print your name LEGIBLY on the sheet.
You will also be given a temporary ID which will be used to gain admittance into the venue.  At the end of your shift, this temporary ID must be forfeited.

Cell Phones and Pagers
Job Assignments

Job duties may include the following:

Injuries

If you sustain an injury while working, it is required that you report it to the First Aid department.  If you fail to report an injury, you will be responsible for paying any doctor’s fee(s) that may accumulate without compensation.

Other information:

All volunteers that work more than a five (5) hour shift are entitled to a break. The break will be determined by the supervisory staff of the assigned location.
-Volunteers MAY NOT consume any of the following: Ice cream, milkshakes, funnel cakes, Dippin’ Dots and bottled beverages.
-Volunteers MAY NOT leave with any food item regardless of the circumstance.
- An appropriate break should be no more than a regular combo meal (burger and fries, chicken and fries, etc.) and a beverage. If the assigned location does not serve entrees, you will be sent to the nearest location that does.

Volunteering at GIANT Center/Stadium

All volunteers of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts are required to remain professional at all times. If any volunteer is working at a concert/show at GIANT Center/Stadium, they MAY NOT leave their station to see the performance. If they are witnessed leaving their area to watch the show, they will be reported to the F&B Office who will then turn around and report this to you, the coordinator, and then be asked to leave.

When volunteering for GIANT Center events:

In cases of inclement weather, if a group's services are not needed, HERCO will contact our group leader at least two hours prior to your reporting time. Our group leader will then relay the message to you. If the cancellation notification from HERCO is made less than 24 hours prior to the shift, the Boosters would be paid a cancellation fee of $10 per person, up to $50.

At the conclusion of the shift:

At the end of each shift, please report to the Food & Beverage/Ride Operations Office (located underneath the Monorail), with the exception of GIANT Center shifts, to turn in your apron, temporary pass, name tag and also to obtain your voucher for the completed shift.  You may not keep your temporary pass to re-enter the park.

DO NOT SELL YOUR VOUCHERS! IF YOU DO, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM VOLUTEERING, YOU MIGHT GET THE BAND BOOSTERS DISQUALIFIED FROM THE PROGRAM, AND YOU MAY BE PROSECUTED.

Note the code for the vouchers
(S) - single voucher
(D) - double voucher

Each of these shifts pays $5.85 per hour (70% of which goes to your Student Ledger) as well as a Hershey voucher.*  If you are interested in working any of these shifts, please e-mail Cheryl Martin at dcmartin2004@aol.com so she can schedule you with the Hershey volunteer office and give you more details on parking, signing in, etc.

*One voucher is good for one of the following choices:
One HERSHEYPARK admission;
One admission to the HERSHEYPARK IN THE DARK event;
One admission to the CHRISTMAS CANDYLANE event; or
One admission to the SPRINGTIME IN THE PARK event.
Please be sure to check the redemption date on each volunteer voucher as they do have an expiration date. Once the date has past, you will not be permitted to redeem the voucher.

Groups will receive $5.85 per hour, per volunteer in the form of a check issued by HERCO. Payments are processed once a month and sent to the Boosters. When we get the payment, we'll credit 70% of that amount to your Student Ledger. If you'd prefer, of course, we'll credit it to the Band Boosters' general fund.  Just let us know how you'd like us to apply the credit:  if you don't it's going to the boosters' General Fund.  Also, it's up to you to keep track of your hours to make sure you receive proper credit. The voucher, however, is yours to keep!!

Parent Testimonial

Last Sunday, my friend and I volunteered for 5 hours at HersheyPark and all we had to do was wipe tables at Minetown.  On our break we ate free food and had free sodas. After the shift we rode a few rides. My daughter's account will get $41.00 ($5.85 x 5 hours x 2 workers x 70%) and since it was a double voucher shift, we walked away with 4 vouchers.  Not bad for an afternoon of chatting.

There are lots of great shifts available for HERCO volunteers! Yeah, you get less than minimum wage, but it's easy and the money adds up quickly, especially if you drag along a friend! Whether you volunteer at the stadium, the park or the Giant Center, each venue has it's perks. Sure you have to wrap or serve food, or pour drinks, or maybe wipe down tables or sweep floors, but it's not hard and with or without a friend, the time goes by quickly because you're busy and working at a pretty steady pace. After your shift, you are welcome to stay for the concert or enjoy the park. You also get a voucher good for different events (including free admission to HP next year).
