Looking for a quick
way to add funds to that student account?
Well, here's a great one: the RamBand has
enrolled with the HERSHEY Entertainment Complex
Volunteer Program. This is a great fundraising
opportunity to earn money, have fun doing it, and it
is easy. How easy? If you work for one eight hour
shift you can make $46.80 for your account!
Plus, you'll receive one volunteer voucher*
for each shift completed. So, if you want to
be part of HersheyPark's 100th anniversary (while
making $5.85 per hour for your student account and
earning a Hershey voucher) then give it a try.
This year, we've
again signed up for the Food & Beverage area, which
means that we'll assist catering staff with special
group meals; assist in restaurants with prep work,
basic cooking, serving customers, and maintaining
general cleanliness. Be prepared to stand for
most of your shift. Some volunteers may be
asked to handle money. All assignments require
standing for a minimum of five hours.
Note:
Hershey requires all volunteers must be at least 18
years of age.
If you work a five-hour shift, you will get a break
at the end of your shift. For shifts longer than
five hours, you will receive a break sometime during
your shift.
HERCO is very strict with the dress code. Volunteers
are to wear white shirts (no messages, pictures or
large logos) and dark pants or shorts (preferably
black). If you wish, you may bring a sweatshirt or
jacket (also no messages, pictures or large logos).
Sneakers should be worn. Just to be clear: NO jeans,
NO capris, NO T-shirts, NO open toe shoes...are
allowed. Volunteers not in the proper attire will be
sent home without payment for the day.
Although we are volunteering, this is serious
business to HERCO. Groups that have people cancel or
fail to report are removed from the list of program
participants. If you sign up, you are making a
commitment to work on behalf of the ENTIRE Central
Dauphin Band Boosters Organization.
In cases of inclement weather, if a group's services
are not needed, Hershey will contact our group
leader at least two hours prior to your
reporting time. Our group leader will then relay the message to
you. In this case, the Boosters would be paid a
cancellation fee of $10 per person, up to $50.
If you volunteer between January 1st and July 8th,
you will be invitied to a Mid-Summer Bingo Bash that
Hersheypark is having to thank its volunteers. This
is new this year and is being held to show their
appreciation for all the work volunteers do.

michele.doyle@juno.com so she can schedule
you with the Hershey volunteer office and give you

2008 season

event
One admission to the 2008CHRISTMAS CANDYLANE event
One admission to the 2008 SPRINGTIME IN THE PARK

Please be
sure to check the redemption date on each volunteer
voucher as they do have an expiration date. Once the
date has past, you will not be permitted to redeem
the voucher.
Groups will receive
$5.85 per hour, per volunteer in the form of a check
issued by HERCO. Payments are processed once a month
and sent to the Boosters. When we get the payment,
we'll credit THE ENTIRE AMOUNT to your student account.
If you'd prefer, of course, we'll credit it to the
Band Boosters' general fund. Just let us know
how you'd like us to apply the credit: if you
don't it's going to the boosters' General Fund.
Also, it's up to you to keep
track of your hours to make sure you receive proper
credit. The voucher, however, is yours to keep!!

Testimonial
Last Sunday, my
friend and I volunteered for 5 hours at HersheyPark
and all we had to do was wipe tables at Minetown.
On our break we ate free food and had free sodas.
After the shift we rode a few rides. My daughter's
account will get $58.50 ($5.85 x 5 hours x 2
workers) and since it was a double voucher shift, we
walked away with 4 vouchers. Not bad for an
afternoon of chatting.
There are lots of great shifts available for HERCO
volunteers! Yeah, you get less than minimum wage,
but it's easy and the money adds up quickly,
especially if you drag along a friend! Whether you
volunteer at the stadium, the park or the Giant
Center, each venue has it's perks. Sure you have to
wrap or serve food, or pour drinks, or maybe wipe
down tables or sweep floors, but it's not hard and
with or without a friend, the time goes by quickly
because you're busy and working at a pretty steady
pace. After your shift, you are welcome to stay for
the concert or enjoy the park. You also get a
voucher good for different events (including free
admission to HP next year).
