Overview
The 100+ member CD Ram Marching Band is composed of brass, woodwinds, percussion, and
Band Front. The Ram Band performs at all
CDHS football games (home, away,
and playoffs), pep rallies, parades,
and community events, as well as several marching band competitions and
exhibitions and the annual KeyNotes Concert. For scheduling purposes, participation in the Ram Marching
Band ensemble is both curricular, as students receive 0.5 credits as well as
a grade, and extracurricular, as the band rehearses and performs outside of
the school day. Marching Band is open to all dedicated students grades
9-12. As a
general rule, the marching band meets only in the fall semester
(although we do participate in the Linglestown Memorial Day Parade).
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES!!!
Since the
marching band is curricular the school discipline policy remains in effect
at all marching band functions. Also, since marching band is athletic and
requires its members to be in good physical health, students will be asked
to perform stretches and exercises. This is mandatory for all members able
to perform such tasks. Click here for some
information for Eighth Graders. And click
here for some basic on Marching Band Uniform Care.
Marching after high school
Over the past few years, you could find RamBand alumni marching in college, as well! Our grads have gone on to join the WVU "Pride of West Virginia" Mountaineer Marching Band, the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Marching Band, the Penn State Blue Band, the IUP Marching Band, the Lock Haven University Marching Band, the Duquesne University Marching Band, the Shippensburg University Red Raider Marching Band, the Lebanon Valley College Pride of the Valley Marching Band, and the Bloomsburg University Husky Marching Band (Let us know if we missed any bands....).
The Spirit of Central Dauphin
At Landis Field on fall Friday nights, the Central Dauphin Ram Band
drumline's cadence is audible before the band is visible; this inspires
excitement in the loyal Central Dauphin football fans. As the band
approaches, fans can begin to see the musicians and the Band Front,
all led by the Central Dauphin Ram Band drum majors. After entering onto
the field, the Ram Band clusters in the end zone awaiting its cue. Once
introduced, the entire Ram Band enthusiastically takes the field for another
exciting performance! Don't miss this year's edition of the Central Dauphin
Ram Marching Band at the performances listed below. Want to volunteer to
