Help the RamBand!

Many Hands Make Light Work!

The Central Dauphin High School Band Program not only boasts several fantastic musical groups but also provides an amazing educational opportunity for our students!  Our program cannot continue to thrive, however, without the assistance of the Central Dauphin Band Boosters.  Read on below for more information about Volunteering or to help organize a RamBand activity as an Event Coordinator.

volunteers needed

When we are transporting, clothing, feeding, and otherwise working with the nearly 200 teenagers in the RamBand, some have compared it to managing a small army!  We have a Band Director and very few but amazing part time Band Staff members; therefore, to maintain a superior program we absolutely need your help!

Because we're so busy, we offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities; we surely have something that you can do and enjoy! If you can cook or clean or plan or fix or sew or use a hammer or power tools, if you can make phone calls, type, draw, cheer, take pictures, do web design, run a cash register, sell tickets, order trophies, or even
just greet people coming to our events - then we have a volunteer opportunity for you!

Actively participating in RamBand events is a great way not only to help, but also to get involved and to see where you can be the most help. Once you start coming to meetings or reading the website, including meeting minute, you'll quickly get a good feel for all the tasks that we have going on, and you can surely find a way to jump in and help. Please consider volunteering for one or more of our many committees, and if you have special skills, please let any of the booster club officers or committee chair people know.

Of course, your teenagers may want to be independent and tell you that they don’t want mom or dad hanging around.  Well, no matter what your student may expresses, it's pretty clear that most kids would want their families' support.  And think about it:  Your student is in high school now, and this is one of your last opportunities to get so involved in his activities.

And if you're really concerned about embarrassing your student, plenty of our volunteer opportunities are perfect for families where the student does not want to “be seen hanging around with mom”; for the less inihibited, others may involve working directly with the students.

Event Coordinators Needed!

Naturally, the more boosters that volunteer to help coordinate events, the more we can help the bands, and the less burden any single booster will have to bear.  We still need some roles filled for the 2010-2011 school year (click here for a list of Event Heads) So, please take a moment and review the various volunteer opportunities to see if there is something you can do to help the bands. We ask each booster family to sign up to assist TWO of the committees listed below.  To sign up to help with specific tasks at events, please log on  to your Charms account and sign up.  Click here for more information on Charms.
