Why Consider Marching Band?
 Why consider joining the RamBand marching band? 
Lots of reasons we can think of!  Here are three:

Great Fun:  In recent years, the RamBand Marching Band was invited to play at a campaign event for President Bush.  In 2005, the RamBand marched down Main Street USA in Walt Disney World. In 2008, the marching band and concert bands went to Orlando to perform at Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and at Cape Kennedy.  We anticipate taking the bands on another major trip in 2010 to Disney World!  The band played before a Phillies game in 2006 and we’ll be there again on August 19, 2009! But really, students have just as much fun throughout the year at parades, practice, and especially at football games!

 Great Experience: As you’ll learn, the Central Dauphin High School Band Program is comprised of bright, friendly, talented, and enthusiastic students.  Our band program consistently earns critical acclaim in all areas of performance.  More important than accolades, however, participation in the Ram Band programs has been instrumental in developing character traits such as self-discipline, courage, self-confidence, integrity, and teamwork in thousands of Central Dauphin students since 1955.

Great Start to High School:  Many freshmen parents have noted that participating in Band Camp during the summer eases the transition from middle school to our rather large high school.  At Band Camp, incoming freshman meet not only lots of other freshmen but also lots of upperclassmen who become great sources of advice and information.  So, once school starts, your freshman is ahead of those who haven’t met anybody yet and have been the high school only at freshman orientation.  The marching band students are more comfortable starting from day one.

Plus:  There are lots of other reasons to join:  it’s a great way to instill discipline, to keep busy, to get into football games for free!  Not convinced?  Click here to check out the marching band performance pictures from last year (or any other year for that matter)!  Each picture’s worth a thousand words!! 

Join us for our freshman orientation meeting on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 7:30 pm in the CDHS Band Room. Plus, new for this year, we’ll have three informal RamBand marching band “mini-camp” days from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on June 8, 9, and 10, then we’ll rehearse on most Tuesdays throughout the summer from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.  Questions about marching band?  Contact the CDHS Band Director, Mr. Matthew Ceresini at mceresini@cdschools.org or at mrc@cdramband.org.
