The
Marching Band Summer Schedule
Band Camp will be held Weekdays August
4-15, 2008. Morning sessions 8am until 12pm.
Evening sessions 6pm until 9pm.
Notes:
-Band Camp is mandatory. The rehearsals previous to
band camp are also mandatory; however, Mr. Ceresini
may excuse those students going on vacation who have
him know well
in advance (that does not mean 45 minutes before
rehearsal).
-Check back to this website for a car pool information page for
families of students that live close together.
-Band Front and Drumline Rehearsal will begin at the
end of this school year and will continue throughout
the summer. Schedules for these groups will be
announced soon.
Marching
Band Camp:
We are all looking forward to band camp this year
and hoping for good weather. This year we'll
have a marching Band Meeting & Rehearsal on June
9,
2008 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
During the sessions
during the first week of Band Camp, students
concentrate on learning and performing the music and
getting to know the instructors. Be in the
band room ready to play (not walking in the door) at
8:00 am.
Several other important things go on
during this week.
-
Volunteers will assist with
uniform fitting each day starting at noon.
Students can sign up for appointments on the sheets
provided in the band room.
-
If you are new to
the band or need replacements, you can order your
green CD Ram Band Henley shirts (about $16-$18)
and band shoes (about $25). The green CD Ram
Band Henley shirts are required as they are worn
under your band uniform and are often used on
hot days in lieu of the band uniform jacket.
Black socks are also required as part of the
uniform (purchase these on your own).
We recommend you have a couple of shirts and
plenty of socks (this reduces laundering daily
between parades and games).
-
You
will receive flyers and handouts these next two
weeks. Take them home!!!!!!!
Other events during the second
week of band camp include the following:
-
Band-a-RAM-a Patron Ads will be collected this
week--you may turn them in all at once on
Tuesday or daily throughout the week. Patron Ad
forms are available in the band room. Here’s how
it works—Collect a written saying and a $1.00
donation from friends and relatives. Ad
examples: “Have a great season, Stephanie, love mom
and dad” or “Saxophone Section—you sure are
sassy! From, Mel”. These Patron Ads are printed
in our Band-a-RAM-a program. All of the money you
collect goes directly into your student account.
There is no limit to the number of ads you can
sell!
-
Pictures are taken on Friday afternoon
(beginning around 3:30). You will need your
uniform, black socks and black band shoes!
When we distribute order forms, listen for
details on how to order pictures! If you plan to
order more than one group picture (i.e., entire
band, instrumental sectional, Band Front, you will need a separate order form
for each group). Bring your completed
order form and payment made out directly to the
picture company on Friday (student accounts may
not be used for pictures.) Parents are welcome
to come and watch the picture taking and to snap
a few of your own favorites for the scrapbook!
-
On Thursday, we will have our
first Service Day. Stop back for details.
-
On Friday,
we will celebrate the end of band camp with the CD
Ram Band End Of Band Camp Picnic and Pool Party
on following pictures. All band members and their families are invited to
attend the Band Fair and the Pool Party.

Items To Bring To Band Camp
-
Your instrument
-
Your great attitude
-
Water bottle/Cooler (lots and lots of water) You
probably will sweat a lot at band camp.
During breaks, you will need to re-hydrate. Water
is best, sports drinks work, too, but you should
try to avoid soda or other sugary drinks.
-
Weather and school appropriate attire:
girls--no bellies showing, no strapless tops and
boys must wear shirts (think school dress
guidelines).
Light colored clothes are generally cooler than
dark colored clothes.
-
Socks and sneakers (not sandals, flip flops or
other shoes that make marching on the
field difficult)
-
Sunscreen:
Sunburn is all too common at band camp.
Even if you never wear sunscreen, you'll need it
at band camp because you will get tan, and
possibly burnt.
-
Sunglasses
-
Hat
-
Bug spray
-
Lip balm
What To Expect From Band Camp
-
To work, and work really hard.
There will be some frustration, but even more
success.
-
To get funky tan lines from
your shirt, shorts, and socks!
-
To have a really fun time, despite the
above.
-
To learn the
majority of this year's show and expect to be
proud of the hard work you will put into making
the CD Ram Band show onto the
field.

Volunteer Opportunities
Boosters help fit uniforms the first week of band camp.
Volunteers: simply report to the band room and
you will be trained on the spot and put to work.
We are also distribute snacks to the students. Bring your
walking shoes and a pair of scissors and hike on out
to the practice field at the far end of the macadam
drive behind the school, track, and soccer fields.
