How to Take Care of Your Uniform |
 |
Jackets
If you are missing any buttons or snaps, if
you have a broken zipper, or if any of
your seams start to open, please notify a
chaperone or put a note in the Uniform Repairs
envelope. Jacket numbers are the red
number located inside your coat. These numbers
correspond to your hanger number. Keep them
together. Hang your jacket in your garment bag
on the hanger. Never lay your jacket on the
floor or the ground. When you take your jacket
off, fold the jacket inside out and lay it
neatly over a chair or bleacher. |
Pants
Straps can be adjusted to allow for enough torso
length so you can sit comfortably. Once
your straps are pinned at the proper length,
don't try to readjust them. Your pant legs
must be worn at least an inch off the ground (so
that your pant leg falls no lower than halfway
down the back of the shoe when you are standing.
When you wear your pants at the proper length,
they won't tear; however, if your pants drag on
the ground, you'll rip holes in the material.
This will prevent us from lengthening hems in
the future. If you return pants with holes in
them, you'll likely receive an obligation card.
We record all tears at the beginning and end of
the marching band season. Pant numbers are
the red number located inside the pant. These
numbers correspond to your hanger number. Keep
them together. Hang pants by matching the
pleated leg seams from the bottom and neatly
hanging over hanger. This will minimize wrinkles
and you will continue to look crisp and fresh.
Store pants in garment bag. Never lay pants on
the floor or the ground. |

Hats and Plumes
Hats—Store hats in hat boxes on your shelf (not
in your bag). Hats should fit snuggly and level
with the brim resting above eyebrows. Straps are
worn under the chin for “winds” and under the
lip for drummers.
Plumes—Plumes must be removed from their holders
by pulling the wire ring down and out of the
bottom. They are returned to their holders by
inserting the the wire ring into the top of the
holder and pulling through. Incorrectly
inserting and removing the plume damages the
feathers. Do not wear plumes in the rain. Store
plumes in their holders inside of your uniform
bag (not in the hat box!). |
|
Band Front
Store uniform (leotard) in garment bag. If your uniform
gets wet you may take it home and lay it flat to dry.
Hanging wet uniforms will stretch and lengthen them. Do
not put uniforms in the dryer with heat, they will
shrink! Never lay uniform
on the floor or ground. |
General Information
Store your shoes in the bottom of your uniform bag. Band
members, it's wise to keep extra black socks and a green
henley shirt in your uniform bag. Band Front, it's
equally wise to keep an extra pair of tights in your
bag. It is your responsibility to keep track of all your
uniform pieces. Be sure to hang things on hangers and
put garment bags and hat boxes away in the uniform
closet after events. If any part of your uniform is
misplaced or damaged request assistance from Mr.
Ceresini or a chaperone. Replacements or reassignments
must be approved by Mr. Ceresini. (In other words, do
not help yourself to a new coat, hat, pair of pants, or
plume). |
|
DO NOT take uniforms home unless you obtain permission
from Mr. Ceresini. |
